Monthly Summary

A monthly summary is a period-level report that aggregates your fieldwork activity for a single supervision period, typically one calendar month. It provides a snapshot of your total hours, supervised hours, activity type breakdown (unrestricted vs. restricted), compliance status across all relevant metrics, and observation and contact counts. Think of it as the dashboard view of a single month of your fieldwork experience.

Monthly summaries serve two critical purposes. First, they give you and your supervisor a structured checkpoint to review progress and catch any emerging compliance issues before they grow. A monthly review meeting where you walk through the summary together is one of the most effective ways to stay on track. Second, monthly summaries become part of your official fieldwork documentation that may be reviewed during BACB verification.

An effective monthly summary should be concise but complete. It should clearly show whether you met the monthly hour minimum, stayed under the monthly cap, achieved the required number of observations and contacts (if applicable), and where your cumulative metrics like supervision percentage and unrestricted ratio stand. Having your supervisor sign each monthly summary in real time — within a few days of the month ending — is far better than accumulating unsigned summaries that need retroactive review and attestation.
